WaTunes 2 Launches, September 1st.

Many of you are probably wondering why the WaTunes website is not working. As of today, WaTunes is undergoing a huge switch over from servers for WaTunes 2. Due to this change, the site will be completely unavailable until the WaTunes 2 public beta is launched. If you are a new customer and you wish to try WaTunes, feel free to visit our website once it’s back online and subscribe to our mailing list to get all the latest news on WaTunes 2. If you are a current customer, we simply ask for your patience as we move forward with getting WaTunes 2 available and making it efficient to upload your music for our digital distribution program.

WaTunes 2? A Subscription Service?

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback and questions regarding if WaTunes 2 will go subscription and offer a monthly service. The answer to that question? Yes! WaTunes 2 will offer a subscription base + the 1.5 setup fee model. Heres how it may play for the service:

Current Fee Model:

Fee: One-time $20 setup fee
Sales Percentage: 90% of sales given to customers (10% cut)
Number of album/song uploads: Unlimited
Number of music stores: 100+
Maintenance Fee: None
Store Fee: None

WaTunes 2 Fee Model (1.5 structured):

Fee: One-time $25 setup fee
Sales Percentage: 90% of sales given to customers (10% cut)
Number of album/song uploads: Unlimited
Number of music stores: 100+
Maintenance Fee: None
Store Fee: None

WaTunes 2 Fee Model (subscription):

Fee: $20 per month
Sales Percentage: 100% of sales given to customers (0% cut)
Number of album/song uploads: Unlimited
Number of music stores: 100+
Maintenance Fee: None
Store Fee: None

By offering both a one-time and subscription base service, this will enable WaTunes 2 to cater to the services of the artist’s & label’s needs. Whether or not if you’re an artist who only wants to pay $20 one time and get 90% or if you want all your money and would like a subscription base system, it’s a good way to provide alternatives and to make it a cost effective effort for you to sell your music.

Working on a better procedure

I’ve been doing a lot of brainstorming to figure out the best current solution for customers to upload their content to us without our advanced technical procedures. Until WaTunes 2 its officially a go, I’ve been coming up with ideas that although will slow down the delivery process, will make it alot easier for those who are not accustomed to our technical specs to be able to easily upload their content. Thus, starting next week, I will update the WaTunes Manual Packet that will introduce the new procedures that will help getting your content to the store services.
